BioPak releases environment impact statement

The compostable packaging brand, together with other members of the Compost Club, has contributed in diverting 940 tonnes of organic waste from landfill.

Foodservice packaging company BioPak has reduced 44,208 tonnes of carbon emissions and refrained from the use and production of 8,611 tonnes of conventional plastic, based on the brand’s 2019 environment impact statement.

The initiative was done through its “Give Back” program, which has sought 20,679 trees planted in the Daintree Rainforest and 18 hectares of rainforest restored since it launched in 2012.

The compostable packaging brand, together with other members of the Compost Club, has contributed in diverting 940 tonnes of organic waste from landfill, which created 65,800 10-kg bags of compost.

“Being a purpose-driven business has redefined how we measure success – it’s not just about the bottom line, it’s about the positive change we’re affecting our planet and communities,” BioPak CEO Gary Smith said in a statement.
